Mexico District 3c Brown, consignment #71-1865 cancelled, reddish shade, three margins, one touched slightly at left. Just 2,403 stamps were issued in 1865-66, just including 200 from this consignment. Cert. Mepsi (2023), signed Aguirre. Scott $3,250.Note: Most 3c were used but not cancelled as they were deposited in mailboxes throughout the city, being used for a brief period as an experiment on local city mail. Experts believe that only the letters deposited in the post office were actually cancelled, so this stamp is very rarely found showing a postmark, with only about 15 examples known.
