Lot 20504 – 1940 (March 27) Airmail cover franked with 50 cents violet and 1.25 lire blue, locally overprinted by hand

1940 (March 27) Airmail cover to Rome, franked with 50 cents violet and 1.25 lire blue, locally overprinted by hand « R.S.R.T.-P.A. / Italiana / Tangeri » horizontally on the 50 cent stamp and vertically on the 1.25 lire stamp, two values used on an envelope, tied with a « R. Stazione R.T. /Tangeri – 27 Mar. 1940 », minor toning to parts of stamp perfs, which do not detract from the significance and importance of this exceedingly rare cover; one of very few examples that have a locally applied handwritten overprint.
