1941-43 The extraordinary Valter Astolfi collection dedicated to the Italian occupation of Montenegro, comprising over 100 items, nearly all mounted on exhibition pages, including military mail with Italian and/or Montenegrin frankings, one postcard from the Governor of Montenegro Gen. Biroli, mail form Montenegrin internees, early usages with Yugoslavian frankings including a rare « Peter II » 2d franking used on 7 May, scarce usages with early overprinted issues, « Serto della Montagna » frankings, very scarce usages of Montenegrin overprinted values in Zara, an exceptionally tolerated Italy-Albania mixed franking used in Montenegro, newspapers, POW German reply card, high frankings with air-, registered- and express mails, postal stationery, a section dedicated to cancellations also including examples from small localities with few hundred inhabitants such as Budva, Murino, Njegusi, Petrovac na Moru, Rijeka Crnojevica, San Stevan, Sutomore and Vir, destinations including Bohemia-Moravia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary and United States!, mail addressed to to the Concentration Camp of Kos, returned mail to Croatia in Autumn 1941, censorships, mail sent to Montenegro shortly before the September 1943 Armistice and returned to sender, etc. A wonderful lot with deep research and potential to be still expanded.
