Lot 20281 – 1941 (July 25) Greek military postcard with Zante occupation overprint

1941 (July 25) Greek military postcard validated for postage with framed « Occupazione/Militare di/Zante/1-5-XIX » in blue, sent by a « Black Shirt » member of the « 60° Btg. CC.NN. da Sbarco » to Pola (Italy), « Zakyntos » cds at right (Astolfi fig. 1, p.8), Italian censorships alongside; illustrated in the Sirotti handbook on page 114. These Greek postcards were only accepted by applying the Italian overprint used for the Zakyntos (Zante) stamp issues (incl. the date of occupation) in order to avoid taxation. Very few items recorded.
