1887-95 1a brown-purple with error « 8STATE » for « STATE » in mint h.r. pair with normal, a few tone spots on the gum otherwise fine and scarce, one of only five examples of this variety recorded in private hands, cert. BPA (1985) (S.G. £2’250).
