2d blue, position 1, touched to close margins and neatly tied by circular « 3 » in bars and boxed ‘SOUILLAC/JU.16.1854’ ds alongside, on 1854 small neat folded entire Souillac to Port Louis, with ‘MAURITIUS/GPO’ crowned circle and boxed ‘INLAND’ alongside, very rare, apparently one of six such letters recorded to date



Rate: 2d inland rate. This rate was for letters from rural post towns or villages to Port Louis, not exceeding 1/2 ounce, this rate remaining in use and unchanged from the introduction of the Post Ordinance No. 8 of 1850
