Description
1887 1/2d Vermilion hand-painted essay, similar to the chosen design for the 1s, heavy horizontal crease, still attractive 1885 1/2d « Jubilee » Essay. Very fine hand painted example in deep red brown with details of the design highlighted in Chinese white, inscribed « Postage ». Affixed to a piece of white card (38 x 43mm). Horizontal crease at centre nevertheless a spectacular and unique essay. Cat. £7000.
