1779 Entire from London to Madeira dated May 29th sent in error to St Kitts where the first handstamp ST*KITTS straight line 35mm X 4mm, applied on reverse, charged ‘in all 1/5d’, returned via ‘FALMOUTH/SHIP-LRE’ on November 24th and resent to Madeira arriving 19th January the following year, very fine strike and rare, the first postmaster in St Kitts having only been appointed on May 5th of the same year Vente aux enchères
