Lot 20338 – 1905 Japanese card sent by a government clerk capt

1905 Japanese card sent by a government clerk captured at PORT ARTHUR to inform the Head Artillery Administration in St Petersburg that he and his daughter are well. Dated « Port Arthur/22nd December 1904 » (=4th January 1905 New Style), two days after Port Arthur had surrendered. Straight-line handstamp in French: Sve DES PRISONNIERS DE GUERRE and square seal-type Japanese cachet translating: FORTRESS HEADQUARTERS PORT ARTHUR, both in orange-red.
