Following the record breaking success of the John E. du Pont sale of British Guiana<\/a>, we have the great pleasure to offer to the market the \u201cTatiana\u201d British Guiana Collection<\/a> in our Rarities of the World auction on June 8th, 2016.<\/p>\n

\"BritishThe collection comprises 53 lots and includes a wonderful and diverse selection of the early classic issues. Amazingly, there are 23 lots of the famous Cotton Reels, which come from some of the greatest collections, including Ferrary, Burrus, Champion, \u201cGreat\u201d, Nathan and Gilbert. This is one of the largest offerings of the Cotton Reels ever, and nearly as important as the selection of these primitives offered by us in the du Pont collection which was sold in June 2014.<\/p>\n

Several of these primitive and fragile stamps are quite possibly the finest existing examples, some of which surpass even the quality of stamps from the du Pont collection. Including lot 40009 (pictured at left), the 1850 4c black on orange Cotton Reel<\/a>, cut square with large margins. Other showpiece items of the Cotton Reel issues include lots 40015<\/a> and 40029<\/a> which are not only very rare stamp but are also cut square and are much more desirable as such.<\/p>\n

\"BritishThere are also some exquisite examples of the 1856 Provisional issue including lot 40048, the 4c black on magenta<\/a>, which has a whopping margin at top, and the much rarer 4c black on blue (pictured at right)<\/a> which is catalogued by Stanley Gibbons at \u00a3150’000.<\/p>\n

This is yet another wonderful opportunity for those keen buyers to acquire some of these famous stamps who will have almost certainly missed out the last time.<\/p>\n

\"TheAs part of the collection, we are also offering the renowned \u201cMiss Rose\u201d cover, which bears a pair of the 1850-51 2c black on rose, the rarest stamp of all the Cotton Reel issues.
