THE LARGEST RECORDED MULTIPLE
1853-55 Waterlow lithographed 4 cents blue, the remarkable horizontal strip of four, being type 2 retouched (clear line of colour over « Four Cents ») together with types 3+4+5, mint with original gum, very fresh colour and margins all around, faint creasing not apparent from face and very light small stain at right; (SG £14’750 as singles).
One of the two most important items of this issue; unique, representing the largest multiple of this denomination in deep blue or blue (SG 18 & 19). Townsend & Howe (page 37) state this strip to be unique, with no blocks recorded.
