1840 1d Black pl.1a DB, fine to good margins, on 1840 (May 24) entire from Manchester to Blackburn (Lancashire) tied by two strikes of a red Maltese Cross, placed at top left which is also contrary to regulations, reverse with despatch ds which neatly opens to display the date, minor soiling, a scarce « May Date » usage on the third Sunday (SG £6’500).
