1903 Envelope to St Petersburg franked block of 10 1k, posted on board ship, put ashore at Alexandria where framed PAQUEBOT applied by Egyptian post office. On reverse bilingual (French/Arabic) Alexandrie, overstruck by St Petersburg arrival. Fine and spectacular.
The Russian (ROPiT) P.O. in Alexandria was closed in 1875, after which mail from the letter-boxes of ROPiT ships, mainly of the Odessa-Alexandria line, was delivered uncancelled to the Egyptian post office.
