FRENCH COLONIES – GUADELOUPE EXHIBITION QUALITY GROUP OF FRENCH STAMPS USED IN THE COLONIES Group of four covers to France comprising: – The unique First Day usage of French stamps in the colonies: Entire from Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe, to Paris, with 1F carmine and 25c blue pair (light fold affecting right example), cancelled on arrival by « grille without end », Calais transit and Paris backstamps, Very Fine and unique (see H. Tristant « L’émission métropolitaine française de 1849-1850 aux colonies » p. 20), signed Calves, 1999 Roubineau certificate, ex Grabowski. – The largest multiple franking of 25c Ceres in Guadeloupe: Folded cover to Paris franked with eleven examples of the Ceres 25c blue (strip of five, strip of four, pair) tied on arrival by dots, signed Calves, Robineau certificate. – Simple rate folded cover to France franked at 1F50 with three pairs of Ceres 25c, signed Calves, Robineau certificate. – The nicest of the four known covers insufficiently franked at 1F50 by Ceres 1F carmine and 25c blue in pair and rated « 15 » decimes manuscript, Roumet certificate.
