


1864 (1.10) Envelope sent registered from Cairo to Bolton, England, with 1862-64 6d lilac pl. 4 tied by “B01”, CAIRO / OC 1 64 and ALEXANDRIA / OC 3 64 circular datestamps, paying the 6d rate via Marseilles, with manuscript “Registered” and “6d fee” denoting cash payment of the fee, scarce REGISTERED handstamp applied at Alexandria along with the circular datestamp, London registered oval datestamp and Bolton backstamp, very fine and a rare registered usage
