Description

1853 Second printing 10c greenish black block of six (3 x 2) with nine bar cancels and part blue handstamp of ‘Wagner & Schoemann’ top left, probably the finest known, largest loose block.Acquired by Mauric Burrus at Kohler 15/12 1920 auction, lot 1736, then in Burrus auction 1963 as the second highest value lot (BFr 130,000), light vertical crease between right pairs not affecting stamps, superb. Calves et Jacquart Cert (2017).
