Lot 70098 – 1852, 10c dark red, four examples on registered letter front to Great Britain
1852, 10c dark red, four well margined examples, pos. 62, 61, 65 & 76, neatly tied to registered cover front to Bradford, Great Britain, by ‘VENLO/10-3 1856/FRANCO’ datestamps, with ‘CHARGÉ’ straight line above, crowned ‘REGISTERED’ postmark and ‘PAID’ cds, both in red, as well as blue receiving double-arc ds, the franking paying the up to 15 grams weight letter rate, with the registration fee -including another 40 cents- being paid in cash, the only example recorded of first-issue registered mail to Great Britain; cert.
