1865 Stampless folded outer lettersheet from Italian firm in Alexandria with company’s cachet lower left to ALEPPO, Syria, dated 27 May 1865 (New Style), endorsed “Vapore Russo” (Russian Steamer). Taken by ROPiT ship on Syrian Slow Line and put ashore at ALEXANDRETTA, Syria, where cancelled on reverse by Russian P.O. with Type 3 cds in blue, dated 21 May (Old Style= 2 June New Style). MS receipt for 3 June.
