Description
1904 3k Postal stationery card uprated with 2k, sent from Aleksandrovsk, in the Kola Fjord on the Murman coast, to Germany, cancelled with “ARKHANGELSK-VARDE / 1 / 2nd STEAMSHIP POSTAL BRANCH 29 VI 1904”, put ashore at Norwegian port Vardo with transit cds and Hamburg arrival cds adjacent, very fine This seasonal service operated from May 1st to October 1st, the White Sea being closed by ice during the winter. It was run by the Arkhangelsk-Murman Express Steamship Association
