1865 Riester Essays of Recumbent Lion showing seven different shades and printed on both white and coloured paper all neatly mounted and written up on exhibition page, some showing initials „RM“ (Martin Riester) in bottom right corner, few small faults, generally very fine and a scarce group (7) (Persiphila $7’000) Note: Martin Riester was a French artist, who prepared these essays for the Iranian Government, which were based on an obsolete Coat of Arms showing a recumbent lion and the sun rising in the background. The government of Iran rejected the essays and the were returned to Riester, however, won an awarded for the essays at the Exhibition of Fine Arts in Paris at the time
