1834 Folded letter addressed to a firm in Boston USA datelined „Cronstadt July 27 1834“, sent by sailing ship „CALUMET“, circular NEW YORK Sep 21 and straight line SHIP both in red. MS ’20c‘ indicates American „ship fee“ levied at New York Mail Office for transatlantic letter.
Handed over as „Calumet“ was „hauling out of docks“, thereby avoiding the obligatory payment of postage for ship’s letter at Kronstadt.
