So if you’ve chosen David Feldman to sell your stamp collection, the first thing to do is get us to give you a free professional evaluation, particularly if you know little about stamps, as we can give you a quick and rough indication on how to procede with selling your stamps, including the different options for selling your stamp collection.
In order to give you an accurate valuation of your stamp collection, we will need to see it. You have three options; send it to us, bring it to us, or stay where you are and we’ll come and see you.
Sending it to us – Before sending it to us, please make sure you have contact with one of our specialists first, in order to make sure that you aren’t spending time and effort on sending us a collection we can’t sell for you. So when you do send us your collection, please write the specialist’s name on the address label. Also, in order to have your parcel fully covered by our insurance, all you have to do is fill in a form and email/fax it to us before sending the collection.
Bring it to us – If you live near to our Geneva, Hong Kong or New York office, then please feel free to bring your collection to us, when we can spend time to talk you through the collection and your selling options.
Have a home visit – We have representation in 25 cities on all 5 continents. So for those with bulky collections, there is a good chance we can come to see you. It is important to be in touch with a specialist in order to determine whether the collection is big enough to warrant the expense of coming to see it.
Upon arrival of your collection in one of our offices, your collection will be stored in a secure safe that we have on site. Then it will be given to the most appropriate specialist who will describe and estimate your collection. Once this is complete, you will receive a list of your lots, with the descriptions and estimates. If you are selling by auction, then you will also receive a copy of the printed catalogue as soon as it is published.
Of course, a very important part of the process for you is getting paid. We are very flexible when it comes to the different methods of payment, and you will receive your money within 42 business days after the date of the auction at the latest. You are paid as soon as all the successful bidders on your lots have paid, and as they are required to pay within 7 days of the sale, you should receive your money sooner than 42 days.
