Commemoratives 1926 International Navigation Congress in Cairo The design of this commemorative was taken from the bas-relief on the walls of Der el Bahary Temple of Thebes (Luxor), built around 1500 B.C. by Queen Hatshepsut. She ordered these bas-reliefs to represent scenes from a commercial expedition of 5 vessels to the land of Punt (now the Somali Coast), to bring back precious articles such as myrrh, incense, ivory, ebony, gold and leopard skins. The artist followed very closely the ancient bas-relief, eliminating the four sailors on the lower mast and making a few modifications.  10028 A C14-C16 1926, International Navigation Congress in Cairo , enlarged hand-drawn essay of the pharaonic sailboat in India ink on tracing paper (132 x 56 mm), attractive and unique (Nile Post E314) Provenance: Vahan Andonian 1’000 10029 A C14-C16 1926 International Navigation Congress in Cairo, enlarged working photographic essay for the 5 mill value (165 x 98 mm) with King Fouad’s name added in hieroglyphics in a cartouche at left, very fine and extremely rare (Nile Post E315) Provenance: Vahan Andonian 800
