Imhotep was the Royal architect, adviser to the Pharaoh Zoser (builder of the Step Pyramid of Sakkara, Third Dynasty, around 2900 B.C.) and a physician with a famous hospital and a school of medicine at Memphis. Mohamed Ali (1805-1848) was chosen for the other stamp as he was instrumental in establishing medical services in Egypt. In 1827, he invited Clot Bey, a physician from France, to organize the medical school and the Kasr el Aini Hospital at Cairo.
