Trans-atlantic Mail Express Online Auction, July 11, 2011

The Trans-atlantic Mail Express Online Auction took place on July 11, 2011.

Maritime Mail was the first and only possibility until the age of aviation to carry letters from one continent to another. This subject has always fascinated advanced philatelists. One can concentrate on specific subjects or try to show a selection of  Rates, Routes, Postal Markings, Shipping Companies, Exchange offices, Wreck Mail, Origins, Destinations, Forwarding Agents, etc.

In this Trans-Atlantic Mail Auction we offered the First Franked cover from the USA to France, bearing the famous USA 1847 5c Franklin First Issue.

The auction also featured better covers from Canada, earliest known usages of ship or exchange cancels, a large array of Forwarding Agents, rare French Entry markings, various routes, rates & markings, plus Shipping Companies incl. Cunard Lines, Collins Line Steamers, Ocean Lines, etc.

For those of you were unable to join us for the live auction, you have the ability to make offer on the unsold items via the website.
